Raise
The Frequency, is a 501 C (3) nonprofit organization, providing
support for local and community-based arts, culture, and
humanity nonprofits whose activities promote an appreciation
for, enjoyment and understanding of the visual, performing,
and media arts.
RTF sponsors initiatives
that support existing and developing art centers, and is preparing
to provide non-profit organizations, their funding partners
and service aggregators, with sophisticated capacity-building,
knowledge management software tools. RTF shall also offer
the nonprofit community data aggregation and information services,
as well as administrative and managerial support in the use
of the software tools.
RTF also offers
support for multidisciplinary media and interactive art
programs that generate social participation through events.
Among other capabilities, our staff brings a particular
knowledge of the economics of digital art event production,
including fund raising events, and events that present local
and community's art, and events that contribute to the overhead
of art center facilities and make optimum use of art center
resources.
Advancement
of the Arts
Local and Community-Based
Art: We support the creation of local produced and community-focused
art that expressed the values of the community, is open
to the public when produced; particularly experimental art
produced by struggling artists that otherwise would not
have an outlet.
Multidisciplinary
and Interactive Art: We support the creation of multidisciplinary
media art programs and interactive art. Multidisciplinary
media art programs support more than one discipline, e.g.
theatre, dance, music and/or visual arts. These art forms
link with experimental music using nontraditional techniques
and/or digital technology. Interactive art generates social
and group participation in a public arena. It is art that
solicits a collaborative response from its audience, even
as it encourages collaboration between artists blurring
the distinction between audience and art form, professional
and amateur, spectator and participant. The process whereby
this art is created, the means by which it is displayed
and the character of the work itself inspires immediate
actions that connect people to one another in a larger communal
context. While focus is on digitally produced media, supported
art forms include live music production, multimedia visual
presentations, staged performances of experimental dance
forms, and large-scale interactive mechanical and visual
sculpture.
Art Centers:
We support public, private initiatives which marshal the
resources of public entities and private, nonprofit or proprietary
organizations for neighborhood or community improvement
purposes in order to new create art centers and preserve
community arts in the face of large-scale development which
favors national- and internationally-based art packaged
for mass consumption. Particularly, we target federally
designated redevelopment areas and areas below the federal
poverty line and economically challenged areas where space
cost and permitting issues may restrict economic viability
for providing economically viable arts facilities.
Fund Raising
Activities
Artist Grants:
We furnish artists with direct financial aid for the production
and display of interactive art works, with particular emphasis
on those artists whose goals and projects exist beyond the
institutional mainstream.
Artist Network
Development: We assist these artists to develop supportive
networks by facilitating contact with public institutions
that can supply them with material resources, technical
assistance, volunteer services and financial aid.
Exhibitions: We
identify and support sites of public presentation for the
display of interactive artwork, with special focus on venues
that emphasize the civic function of such works.
Events: Where
permitting and/or facility issues restrict the ability of
community-based artists to present their work, we host events
that bring together community and community-based artists
in legally permitted venues, supporting the production costs
of those events.
Educational Outreach:
We educate a larger public concerning the community value
and social relevance of multidisciplinary and interactive
art.
Software
Reaching beyond
our support of the arts, RTF is developing an automated
information database and evaluation framework for assessing
non-profit performance. We are focused on a systematic gathering
of performance assessment data, based not in a human information
gathering and report generation, but in data automatically
generated through system transactional operations. RTF intends
to monitor nonprofit use of certain Internet -based services
by which volunteers, equipment, expertise, and other resources
are accessed. Transaction values are measured and reported;
with reporting data shown against historical performance
and industry averages.
The data presents
a quantitative and qualitative means by which non-profit
managers, their funding partners and service provides, can
assess the relative performance of the non-profit in terms
of the non-profit's ability to leverage one party's financial
contribution with other financial and non-financial resources.
The data allows
nonprofits managers to compare organizational performance
against internal milestones and other local nonprofit organizations,
thus enabling informed decisions for improving and/or adjusting
their organization and systems. The data can also be used
by non-profit managers in assessing the effective use of
collaboration, between and among other non-profits and the
nature and quality of community-based support, can be used
to administer and manage resource-based matching grant programs,
and in monitoring the quality of volunteer support and its
own ability to effectively manage volunteers.
Foundations may
use the framework-based evaluation criterion to select among
the best grantees, giving them a basis of support for signaling
other funders about how to conduct their work more effectively,
to recommend to grantee on how they could improve the performance
of their organizations to better align with foundation objectives,
and to advance the overall state of knowledge and practice
in the area, thus improving fulfillment of non-profit purposes
which are being supported.
